Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – Former Prince Albert Raider Captain Kyle Chipchura has
signed a one year contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League
or the 2010-11 season.Chipchura was acquired by Anaheim from the Montreal Canadiens on
December 2, 2009 for a 4th round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. 24 year old Chipchura appeared in 74 games for Anaheim and Montreal last season, collecting 6-6=12 points with 72 penalty minutes (PIM). Chipchura finished the season with career highs in goals, points, PIM, appearances, hits (63) and blocked shots (28). Among Anaheim team leaders, he ranked third in faceoff wins (321-of-670) and sixth in shooting percentage (14.0). A native of Westlock, Alberta, Chipchura has played three NHL seasons with Anaheim and Montreal, collecting 10-16=26 points with 87 PIM in 123 career games. Over four AHL seasons with Hamilton from 2006-09, Chipchura recorded 37-61=98 points with 154 PIM in 178 career games and helped the Bulldogs win the 2007 Calder Cup. Prior to making his professional debut with Hamilton, he won a gold medal as Team Canada’s captain at the 2006 World Junior Championship in Vancouver, British Columbia.
